We’ve had so little sunshine this winter that everytime the sun appears from behind the clouds everyone is ecstatic. Even if it is only for a short moment. Today the sun was shining on the snow. For the first time this winter the apple tree was at least partly covered in snow at our monthly meeting. It stands out among the neighbouring trees with its beautiful wine-red bark. At least if you look up close. From a distance all you see is a tangle of naked branches and twigs.

Congratulations on getting some snow … as well as sunshine! We’ve had lots of sunshine but we’re wishing for more snow. Not much this winter — poor skiing now and dry times later.
This winter the daytime temperature has remained above freezing so the snow keeps coming and going. But now it’s been white for at least a few weeks, causing half the town to go crazy about skiing.
That’s quite a tree! Your second photo is especially pretty. Thanks for sharing your tree.
It is, indeed, well camouflaged and not easy to pick out. But that gives us the chance to notice the other trees around it.
I know. It’s really hard to photograph the apple tree during winter. All the photos just show a big tangle of trees.
The weird bend at the top and the wine-red colour are two things about the tree that are recognizable in winter, but neither really stands out in photos.
