Today was my last workday before my summer vacation. A rainy day. Since my holiday travel plan was cancelled due to covid-19 (I had planned to participate in an archeological excavation of the northernmost medieval bailiff castle located in present-day Sweden) my summer vacation will probably consist of 4 weeks of just relaxing and taking it easy. June was generally hot, around +30 °C, and dry. Hardly a drop of rain. July on the other hand has so far been cool and rainy. But on my lunch break today when I walked to the park to photograph the willow tree it only drizzled slightly. The wet crown had a slightly silvery look. This time I also tested to stand between the stems of the tree photographing upwards along the stems which gives another perspective on the tree. Some leaves had already turned yellow and had dropped from the tree, maybe due to the long and very dry start of the summer. The fallen leaves floated in the pond where the now half-grown wigeons were swimming. A swallow was flying around over the pond but it was too fast for me to be able to photograph it. But I did at least manage to photograph a bumble bee that was buzzing around the willow leaves.
Fotona är tagna den 10 juli 2020.

Such wonderfully-composed pictures – and what a beautiful tree and setting!
It’s like a huge green cloud. That picture looking up from underneath is spectacular and it’s interesting the two similar shots with a different focus.
Sorry you are missing the dig – long ago I was an archaeologist and that castle sounded interesting.
All the best 🙂
Thank you. Yes, at this time of the year the tree looks really spectacular.
As a teenager I dreamt of being an archaeologist when I grew up, but ended up as a natural scientist instead. But I hope to get another chance next year to try living my old dream for a week or so.
